    Default Charming vanda

This little charmer was my husband Darwin's pick, and I'm SO glad he picked her! Darwinara Charm 'Blue Star'. The plant is about 5 inches tall and 6 wide, the blooms are 1.5 in. across, and the fragrance is a light sweet perfume that will make you sigh. The pics are not the best but I hope you enjoy. Tmai

Nice one Tami! Tell Darwin he has hope with orchids, lol!

At first glance I thought it was a Neofinitia. Love the delicate shape and the color!

Julie, you are quite right in your perception of Neofinetia--Darwinara is one of those multi-generic hybrids. In this case Ascocentrum X Neofinetia X Rhynchostylis X Vanda.

    Cheers,

    Rob

You are right, Rob, it is a multi-generic hybrid. I think the neo shows up well - it has the lovely little spur. I've had spikes both this summer and last that blasted. I'm thinking the heat maybe? Summers here are humid and in the mid nineties Would the neo in this orchid possibly make this a cooler growing vanda type?
    Thanks for looking,
    Tami
