Hippeastrum papilio

I keep very few non orchids these days but this is one I love. I had admired this for years and a dear friend surprised me with 3 bulbs of it for my birthday 5 years ago. It has grown 2 new bulbs that are not mature yet and currently has 2 spikes with one in bloom.

That is unusual. I like the stripes. How big are those blooms? They look huge!

I didn't measure but 6-7" would be my guess

That is what I thought as well. I bet they would look good in a flower bed.

All the seed and bulb catalogs are arriving in the mail. So many options. It is amazing how much time I can waste looking through those catalogs. lol. Thanks Ron.

that is gorgeous, the colour and marking is so lovely... i've loved this family of plants for quite some time... and i really should consider finally jumping in to get one.. thanks for the incentive Ron.
