Discolored fertilizer

Has this happened to anyone else? I have a bag of 20-14-13 fertilizer that is a little over a year old that has gone from its normal blue color to a pale greenish-grayish color. I'm assuming it results from exposure to oxygen and/or moisture. Do you think it is still good to use, or should I get rid of it and buy new? I don't have that many plants, so I don't go through it very fast.

I know that it is not a good idea to use fertilizer that has been diluted for a long time. Try keeping your fertilize in a plastic storage bin that is air tight. Maybe it will last longer for you that way. As to if this fertilizer is still good, I am going to go out on a limb and guess that it has degraded in potency. It probably is not 'bad', but probably is not as strong as it was when new. JMHO I would try using it and if I did not get the results I expected, then I would get new.

I've talked to a couple of friends who know a fair amount about chemistry, and they say the dry stuff doesn't really lose potency, certainly not in a year or two.
