My Phal named Mealie!!

Hi all,

Once again, I am concerned about my little phal Baldan's Kaleidoscope. No, I don't see any mealies (keeping my fingers crossed), but after all this little one has gone thru with those beasties, that's the nick I've given her.

I'm just not sure if this is something of concern, or if it's just normal, or even if I need to do anything about it (and if so, what??). As you can see in the photos, the bottom leaves are suddenly wrinkling, and are hanging down the sides of the pot. The newer leaf seems fine (that split was there from day one), and is standing tall, color is great, and it's growing daily.

So, do I need to be concerned? Should I maybe take her out of the s/h and just leave her bare rooted? Or should I just continue as I have, and talk to her every chance I get (yeah, I do that).

I really don't want to lose this one. She was my first orchid, and after going through so much, she deserves to be healthy and happy and to have a nice, long orchid life.

Anne, don't worry about it. She is going to need some time to recover after all... You will lose the bottom leaves anyway, so this is nothing to worry about. Give her some time and she will surprize you!!!

I would leave her alone and let her get accustomed to her new pot. She has had many stresses recently, so time to let her grow as she needs to get back on the healthy path.

Glad to help. Please realize that you will eventually loose both of those bottom leaves, but more will grow from the top. ...

That's fine. I will now try to stop worrying about her, and just enjoy her as she progresses to new growth.
