Cross fairrieanum with Candy Apple, and maybe the alusive black Orchid?

There was one out of these seedlings that was close to black. I didnt see it, but was told.

There's a lot of variations with seedlings.

i love fairrieanum, and these crosses. That first one has exceptional colour. I'd keep it!

What I want to point out is the differences in seedlings. These Paph's are from the same seed pod.

Here is a cross I made from start to finish. I took the pollen from a BL Richard Muller that was a fast growing, Bright Yellows, perfect shape, multi - flowers, a beautiful specimen, and put in on a BL Golden Glory, that I had, and has Richard Muller in it already.



My goal was to bring more yellow into the little larger Golden Glory flower. I got more than that out of the seedlings!
As they have started flowering for me, I have ended up with some Gem's! One is close to solid glowing orange-yellow.



What is neat about these seedling, they flowered quick, and the flowers last over a month, changing colors from start to finish.



All from the same seed pod. When I find the best one, I'll have it judged, then cloned if I get an FCC..



I have about 50 potted up. No one has done his cross yet, unless recently, my Wildcat is not up to date also, if not, I'll get it named.

Most all crosses keep running away from the original parents, thus turning into mud colors. By re-introducing one of the original parents, will bring back the better genes

So hot down here in S FL, I don't go outside much this time of the year, so the work piles up till cooler months, where I can enjoy it.

Just to clarify-these are Cattleya Alliance, not Paphs. Paphiopedilum has a slipper-shaped lip.

I think he was referring to two different situations.

1º 2 paph from the same pot seed ( and very different)

2º the cross made by him. BL Richard Muller x BL Golden Glory

In both cases there are many differences between the seedlings.

Maybe you - Honest John - could have started a new thread. It would be difficult to find the second subject with these related tags.
