Paph question.

Most of my Paphs are in s/h & Paph callosum & Paph venustum have a new growth or 2.My question is about my larger multi-florals.My supardii had a new growth which seemed to abort after a couple of weeks , only the size of a pea & i reckoned it was because the medium was to dry , so when my Paph Gary Romagana started 2 new tiny growths i lightly misted them in the mornings.I checked them tonight & they have browned & look dead .Is it normal behavior for these to do this ? or am i doing something wrong cutlrally.
The plants are growing quickly( well my big roth has grown from 26" LS to 30" LS since August).

I haven't really noticed this, although it does seem to me that often a large mature growth will send up 2 or 3 new growths, and only really develop 1 or 2 of them. I suppose if the media dries out too much the plant might be upset...

I have never noticed a plant abort a new growth as a matter of its regular habit, so when that happens, something is usually wrong. Unc, the new supardii growth may have aborted because the medium was too dry, but the new Gary R? That shouldn't have happened. Are you flushing the old solution out of your S/H reservoirs when you water? If you're not, they may have built up a concentrated level of toxic salts.....

Oh yes the pots get flushed.
The plant has ony been in s/h for 3 moonths so salt build up shouldn,t be a problem if i hadn,t.
I,ll have to re-pot it @ the wekend & check the roots.

New growths are really sensitive to too much light as well, so they may be getting fried--or, that daily misting might have rotted them... There are lots of possibilities, and unfortunately, all you can do is try to rule them out one by one...

Well i,ve had a look @ the roots & they,re fine , 3 growing tips & non mushy.
I think you may have hit the nail on the head Louis , probably a combo of high light & the misting.Next time i see new growth i,ll move the plant to a shadier position & leave it alone .
