bulbs on top of bulbs

A question on one of my new orchids i got today.
It looks like there are growing bulbs on top of the pseudobulbs.
Is this normal?

yes this is quit normal (whats normal).Some genera do this sort of thing more readily than most.

I know, right! When I first saw this, I thought my oncid was under-potted and needed room, so I repotted the thing. Then, in the new pot, it did the same thing and there was plenty of room. I think some oncidiums just like to climb up and out of the pot.

just to be sure, this is not a new bulb growing over an existing one , it is actually growing out of the top of the existing bulb.

@Erik-- No worries, this is normal. Oncidiinae orchids do this frequently. I think I have 4 Oncidium-type orchids right now that have this stacked psuedobulb thing going on.
