I'm very excited! I have tried on a few occasions to sphag & bag rootless plants without results other than the plant croaking. I tried on a cattleya seedling that had no viable. Today when I check it, I found a fat root developing.![]()

I also tried sphag & bag....I have a new leaf!
I had a "starter" Phal orchid from HD & being new to orchids, I killed it with too much moisture. I was going to throw it out until I saw the sphag & bag method, I figured what could go wrong, I already killed it, right?
I put orchid in a baggie with damp sphag moss laced with root hormone, blew into it, sealed it & placed it next to my coffee maker (warmth). Within 2 weeks there was a new leaf, but what do I do with it now?
Glad it worked for you , keep us updated on the progress . Gin
Keep it in there until new roots appear. Then it has a few healthy roots , then repot it into the smallest pot possible. Good luck!!Originally Posted by valb561

Traci, Val, that's great. Congrats on another accomplishment!
Yeah, Traci and Val, congrats! Never give up, and hopefully they'll recover!
I have bagged two root rotted phals. One is doing okay, because it has two growing roots. For some reason, yesterday a bottom leaf yellowed so now it only has 3 leaves....at least it's not croaking. The other one has grown a tiny leaf, but it doesn't seem to have the energy to support the leaf. Luckily, it has two tiny roots appearing, so hopefully it'll hang on to life for a little bit longer!
nice.
