I have always liked the veiny pouch on these guys, so couldn't resist one when I went to a local vendor and he had a whole tray of venustums in bud and ready to pop. This one had looked like it had the darkest coloring and widest petals of the bunch.

Venustum has quickly become one of my favorites. I bought one out of bloom a few months ago and can't wait to see the blossoms!

You have a good form here. I raised a flaskful, way back , and found them very varied ; some had quite small flowers - it was suggested that my flask was a cross between two forms , but later I heard that Kew were considering making the smaller form into a distinct species , but that was befoire they started off on their DNA jag. Now they just talk about overlapping clades, and my eyes go glazed.....
