Dendrobium moniliforme with exreme pink on the leaves

a grower here in taiwan had 2 big boxes of mixed stuff under his sale table, mainly plants that had clearly not sold the years before and must have been taking up space somewhere...anyway, the box said '1 for 10nt' (or say 10 plants for about 3US$)...so i started filling up a few bags, when the boss just looked at me and asked if i wanted them all...um, well, HELL YA I DID! he said he was tired of looking at them and that i could have them all for 100nt (3us$)...it was a real bitch carrying those boxes home but well worth it! this is just one of the little gems that was hiding in the heaps of tangled roots and plants...never seen one with so much pink in the leaves before!

Shane, I love hearing about the deals you get - and the treasures they turn out to be! I just hope my husband never sees the price of your orchids, because I just about have him convinced that $10-$20 US for one plant is a steal!

I too love the little dendrobium with pink on the edges. If there was one of those on a sale table there'd be several grown people wrestling for it! lol Very nice...I have a local store that I can get phals and dens cheap all day long. Just no tags 90% of the time.

boy what a steal.... and that den is so special.. not only its variegated but its got that pink edges as well.... so beautiful.

oh ya, patty, don't ever let him find out...yall might have to move to asia just to save on orchid purchases!! hell, i havent been home in 8 years and 10-20$ then WAS a steal!! and that was just for white and pink phals!! in highschool, when superbig chain stores started carrying orchids in their flower department...i would go in...and peal the price stickers off and replace them with once from .50-.99$ petunias and things...get in a checkout line with the youngest looking guy working the register...I KNOW IT WAS WRONG BUT I WAS YOUNG AND THEY DIDNT KNOW...and as such, my mom has a fairly sizeable collection i left to her when i moved continent!!

do you think one would make it to you in the mail??? i found another seller who had them in 1inch pots for 50nt i think!! i know it breaks a few international laws...but hey, taiwan aint a REAL country anyway!! stupid UN...lucky me!!

No way. This is a real country with very real laws especially pertaining to live plants. Hard to get them in and hard to get them out.....unless you happen to know some real people in authority. Are you real sure you are not living in Shangrila or Utopia , orchidwise that is?
