Another old classic Miltoniopsis hybrid ( or Miltonia , as they used to be called). These are all early summer flowering plants ; May/June maybe July are the usual flowering periods, although they have a slight tendency towards being independent of seasons like many of the Oncidium tribe. The silvery foliage suggests that they are xerophytic ( sun lovers) and I think my success with the group is probably due to the fact that much of my greenhouse is quite bright - as needed by my vandas, renantheras etc too.
Me too - I also am a sun lover -I like the heat,- correction - I love it - and spend the winter wrapped in an electric blanket ( my wife would tell you that I do have a tendency to exaggerate...)
They don't like cold any more than I do, , and get a peculiar orange colour on the bulbs and leaf bases when the temperature is less than they like, and are hard to grow out of that. Fortunately I don't actually turn orange myself....
