Now I know the smell is terrible after looking this creature.
Great photos of a very cool orchid. Thanks for sharing.
lovely Ron.... im pretty sure this is another stinker. Im very much confused with this group of bulbos, how does this one differ from my papulosom besides from the warty lip? or is that
the defining factor? Ah whatever, I've fallen in love with these stinkers....
thanks guys!
@randy
yeah, your papulosum would be jealous about this stench, lol.
true Randy, this section Lepidorhiza isnt easy. however, as you pointed out, its the papillae (warts) on the lip, which is almost absent in B.trigonosepalum. Aside from coloration and sizes differences, which isnt a clear indicator. B.trigonosepalum is usually yellow and amongst the larger one in this section.
i love the stinkers too, you are not alone Randy...haha.
Thanks Ron....
even withought the fly, i could tell this was a stinker...it is sticking its tounge out like some grotesque creature....lol makes great little brother repellant im sure! i might need a gas mask now.....and lavender scent sachets too....time to place an order i think! jks....
The shot with the fly really gives perspective to the size of the bloom!!
Awesome shot of the orchid and the fly.You are really good with that camera.
Cheers,
