Is my dendrobium compactum dieing

Hi all.
I have a dendrobium compactum my wife picked up from a local shop about 5 years ago. For that time it has been left to its own devices and basically neglected. Any way, it flowered every year and they lasted quite a while. It was sat in direct sun on a west facing window sill.
I had read about them needing repotting every 2-3 years, so decided to have a go. I got brave and decided i would also try to divide them. Quite easy really.

I thought, on one of the divisions there are a couple of stems that apear to be dieing, whilst another has produced another spike and there is a new stem forming at the front. The other appears ok.

The stems in question are starting to go red with black blotches apearing. The leaves are curled up and also starting to go red.

Could it be they got burnt sat on the window sill? or something else.

Ok, first things first, is it sitting in water? What is the airflow like? How is overall humidity? This looks a bit like a fungal infection, but it also looks like a small case of sunburn. Also your leaves are looking a bit shrivelled, as a re the pseudobulbs, so perhaps the roots system is severely damaged and cannot draw water?

If you think it is sunburned, move it into a space where it gets morning sun, its always the coolest. Either that, or keep in very light shade. I would also lay of watering if the media is staying wet, or if it dries quickly, water more often.

After repotting it is best to keep a plant in much lower light than normal. Older bulbs will sometimes shock after a repot and die. As long as nothing is squishy or cracked open and brown it should be okay. If other pbulbs begin looking sick it may be a bacterial infection which isn't a good thing. If it begins to feel squishy, cut everything brown and mushy off then treat with hydrogen peroxide. I pour it on then let it bubble and repeat several times then dry it off. You can also spray with an anti-fungal such as Physan. Hang in there, most dendrobiums i've seen are very hardy. Even when the roots are rotted off or you lose a couple bulbs to rot, they can come back and do very well. Good Luck...

It doesnt sit in water at all (second pot is more for show and stability). There wasnt a lot of live looking root when i think about it, and i didnt really trim the roots, only the ones that broke off really.
Following the division, i moved them to a new slightly shaded position.
I guess time will tell and i will keep an eye on them for further deterioration.
