Paphiopedilum adductum

I bought this plant as a Paph adductum, paid big bucks for it too. It bloomed for the first time this past winter and I think it is a hybrid and not a true species and I was very disappointed

I have shown it to a few breeders and some said that it was a "true rare form" of adductum and some said that it was an adductum hybrid. Personally, I agree with the nay sayers. So, I bought another one from a different vendor just recently and hope it is the real deal!

Hmm...that is good-looking (as all multiflorals are) but it does seem odd. Doesn't seem like an adductum, although I've never heard of the "true rare" form. There is var. anitum, which looks like a traditional adductum with the exception of a hellishly dark dorsal, advertised as "pitch black" by some. I've seen pictures of anitum, and they do seem dark...black is a stretch though.

Maybe it's adductum x glanduliferum? I think that cross might be registered as Predacious but don't recall for certain. I know Antec has a million pics though.

Yes, I had also suspected it to be Predacious. Another odd thing with this mysterious plant is the blooms are very large and adductum blooms do not get that large. Paph anitum is very dark like you said and I wouldn't mind having one.

I have seen anitum hybrid as well as gigantifolium hybrid listed on ebay which I thought was odd because they are still not legally available here in the US.
