Arachnis Maggie Oei

(Arachnis hookeriana x Arachnis flos-aeris)
Hi guys,

I bought the plant more than three years ago as Arachnis flos-aeris, but it is not what I thought. The plant bloomed for me first time in February 2011, then in July, and is blooming now. When first flowers opened in February, I was disappointed and even was thinking to get rid of it. However, the plant happened to be a frequent bloomer, so I decided to keep it. Another reason to keep it that the plant is heat and cold tolerant. The arachnis is growing like weeds and does not require any special treatment... or I just think so. Maybe it would bloom better with a better culture.
Anyway, here is my "pale buddy".

It looks nice against the overcast sky. The colors don't stand out as well on a bright day. Still, not a bad looking bunch of flowers at all, and frequent bloomer + low maintenance ... yeah sounds like a keeper.

This is a very nice Maggie Oei! I don't grow them, they grow by themselves in cement ramp! I just placed them there when I moved and they kept on going! Blooming most of the time, they make seed pods and the seed flies away so I have others that "appeared" on their own. Full sun, all the rain water they can take!

Interesting pale version of Maggie Oei... I have not seen this colour version of it before, the common ones have darker brown stripes.

Well, I suppose it is Maggie Oei but I am not sure. As I said, the plant was labelled as "Arachnis flos-aeris" when I bought it. I decided it should be the Magiie Oei when I found this link:

Only the second time I have seen photos of this orchid's bloom's and yours are by far the more numerous and lovely of the two pictures. AL

I heard they get REALLY big. Could you tell me how big yours is? I want to get one of them, but I would probably have to wait until I move to FL, where I could grow it outside without worrying about the height.

My plant was 6" cutting when I bought it and now it is 35" long (without the spike). I guess I should remove a half of the plant. It will look nicer.
