LOVE my Phals beware of orchid clips = bad bad

Hay everyone just a quick post am loving all my Phals been only growing them for a few months and already very attacthed to them! Cant stop thinking about how they are when I am out , and check on them whenever i'm home. They seem happy in my care although I would suggest that if you purchase Orchids with these clips supporting the spikes to check for damage!

SURVIVED THE TORMEMT:





Both my NOID Phals had scarring and damage done to the spike caused by the tension of the clips, I immediately tool them off, one Phal even had a clip right over a node!! I feel so sorry for it as it could have been anotherof flowers hope it does recover as I feel a bump arising from the node, not happy with the grower sometimes they are so rough with them, how can a plant lover do this? I don't under stand...

Ah dont worry! The clips are supposed to stay on and COVER the damage! LOL

Other than that, they wouldnt hurt it anymore. BTW, very pretty (and expensive i bet) phals there

YUP! if you can see it , then you will buy it I guess.. I just think they put too much stress on the spikes . Yea they weren't too bad I got them at the West Auckland orchid show last week Glad you like them too, the yellow one has a soft tropical smell

Very nice phals. I use clips too but check on the strength of the spring.

I use the larger clips like those on our orchids. As long as you move the as the spike grows, no worries.

Nice. I prefer winding plastic twist ties around the spike like you do..

I use a strip of raffia or yucca tied VERY losely about the stem and the support. just tight enough to hold it on. cheap, looks more natural, and it is , at least for me, free.

Two pretty phals. The clips I like to use to hold things onto shelves. My drip tubing system is held exactly where I want it with these clips. They are also good for keeping my hanging plants in place on windy days. Using them on spikes however...well I usually let spikes hang au natural. Once in awhile, my hubby sees a new spike and talks me into staking it...he likes them up, I like them down.

Yea, but if your going to show it, it will lose points, and can also transmit disease and pests.

not if it is boiled and dried, and I suppose you could tie a bow if it is for a show, for aestetic purposes.
