Mysterious green substance on phalaenopsis orchid roots and pot

This is my beloved first Phalaenopsis. It has just finished growing a new leaf and new root growth and I presume will start flowering soon. But as you can see there is this weird green stuff all over the pot and the roots. What is this? Is it normal? Is it harmful? What can be done about it?

I'd say don't panic. The green & black stuff on your clay pot is Algae or moss caused by dampness. The condition of the root is a liitle out of focus so I can't say for sure what is happening there.
My suggestion would be to make up a container, ( big enough to hold your pot,) of Physan 20 (mix according to directions) and soak the entire pot and plant. then scrub the pot to remove the moss & rinse. This should take care of it for a while. It will come back again depending on where the pot is positioned.
I am sure others will add to this.

Personally I would take this as a sign that it might be getting too much water. But I agree with Angela's advice.

Physan does not kill algae but I agree with Angela when too dense of algae may interfere the growth of the roots and stem itself put your pot in airy position and keep the pot in between watering in dry condition.
