Some say its a variety(of nobile) , others maybe think its a sub-species, others certainly give it independent species status. Whatever...
This was bought as "Stonehurst Variety" . Whether it is any fifferent from any other variety is a matter of opinion - I don't currently have any other to compare. ( Stonehurst was an orchid nursery in Sussex, UK, closed some years ago - and I bought it at that time.
Treatment is the same as for all other nobiles, in that it needs a dry cool rest ; my plant had about three months without water, in temperatures occasionally down to 5 degrees C, but mostly around 10 ( as a winter night minimum.
It is interesting to note, as so often the case in UK with nobile and its varieties and hybrids, teh canes flowering are the 2010 growths ; the 2011 ones are actually a little shorter, but one the other hand there are four of them as compared to two in 2010 , and I am not unhappy about that.
