This is the third of my Jumellea species to flower, but I can't tell them apart , except perhaps that this has flowers rather larger than the ones flowered last year - these are at least 2 inches across. But they are pretty things considered alone. When you see the size of the plant, they are not quite so good.
But from what I have seen, it is possible in 50 years to grow a great big plant with dozens of flowering growth and hundreds of flowers - but by that time I will be in the Guiness Book of Records too - as the oldest orchid grower, probably the oldest man, in the world... Don't hold your breath.

Fantastic white blooms regardless of numbers of quantity. The orchid seems very healthy as well. Nice growing!

    cheers,

LOL Big...oversized...needs my backyard! For some reason I like the big bulkier types...and the white pristine flowers are simply beautiful!

Even if it was flowering with one!! What a beauty! The Jumellia always look like as if the sepal and petal left and right have slided downwards a bit. Is it fragrant?

Certainly is at night, not so in daylight.

Regarding the record-breaking: By all means!

Is it my imagination or does this orchid resemble a strap-leaved paph, or even a phrag? Does it grow like slippers? I assume from the name that some taxonomist thought the flowers spider-like, but they remind me of waterlilies, really - a much prettier view for the mind's eye, don't you think?
