My husband recently returned from a trip to Atlanta. A friend there gave him a plant to give to me. My husband recalls he said it was a Deciple Orchid, but isn't sure. Here are pictures. Can anyone identify, along with general care info?
Thanks !!

I'm not completely sure, but I think what you have is an iris. I googled and found Neomarica gracilis also known as apostle plant or walking iris. They have very pretty flowers!Posted via Mobile Device

Thanks so much!
I agree. It looks like a walking iris.![]()

Thanks so much for the info...I'm just going to nurture it and see what happens !
Disciple Plant is a common name sometimes used for species of Neomarica, the Walking Iris. And this plant does appear to be a Neomarica as others have said... so Iris family, not an orchid. There's no way to know what species you have until it blooms. Flowers are usually white, blue or yellow.

Thanks so much, I'm getting more information on it and look forward to the first bloom !! Any advice on how to separate the pups or babies and start another plant?
Pin them down in another pot and let them grow some roots before detaching them from Mom. That's the 'walking' part of walking iris, it spreads step by step.

Cool...thanks !
Walking Irisis have very cool blooms, congrats!![]()
