Hi guys, we just had some torrential rains and winds in Ft Lauderdale Florida. It was not so bad on my side of town but since I live by the ocean we experienced more wind than inland areas. Although not as bad as the west coast still enough to damage the petals on my blooming vandas. Can anyone tell me if I have a thrip problem on the petals? I think I have thrips...any suggestions

It's hard to tell in the photo but probably thrips. Do the roots have any girdling to them?

Very pretty colors. My understanding is that thrips usually cause vanda buds to turn yellow and not open at all. Also thrips are usually more of a problem during dry weather and it certainly hasn't been dry here in Ft. Lauderdale. Are you a member of the Ft. Lauderdale Orchid Society?

thank you everyone for the good advice. Cathy the images were very helpful, although I do not have girdling on the roots I have had blast on initiation on my older plants. I may treat them all regardless.
