Had to give the orchids a spray down at almost 6:00 oclock in the evening due to heat. It is hard to believe it is this hot already this summer. We usually do not see temps like this until August.
Hope everyone else is staying cool.
cheers,

Wow! I think it's hotter there than we have here today! You poor, poor folks!
Guess I won't complain about our heat...wow. Hope you find a way to keep cool.
107 here in Texas, Bruce...It's awful!
Bruce...Now that is sizzling HOT! And we complain. I've never seen it hotter than about 92 to 95 in my area...of course the humidity is there. What sort of cooling do you have in the GH?
Well in London we are being spoilt, it is currently 70f. Yippee!!
I'll thank you all to keep your nasty hot temperatures to yourselves. We're quite happy up here in New England enjoying our normal, temperate early summer temperatures of 75 degrees and we'd like it to stay that way for a few more weeks since we had a taste of 98 last week. - martha
We have a kool-cell with two fans (one works as a back-up). That is the main cooling feature in the GH. Spraying cool water seems to work the best though. It is so dry here from lack of rain, the cool water spray helps so much, but it is hot. What is weird is that this morning the outside temp right now at 6:47 am is 66 degrees. Really nice. I just opened up the windows of my home and turned on the whole house fans to pull in the fresh, cool air. Much nicer than the old recycled air-conditioned air.

Bruce, the bright side of this weather is the low humidity. My wet pads are working efficiently today.
2:30 PM
Outside temp: 95 F
RH: 20%
3' from the pads: 72 F
A lot better than our usual 50% RH.
Bruce, I am not going to ever complain again about how hot it is here. Today at 1.pm it was 86, does not really go much higher than that and we don't have the humidity because the island is pretty flat( no mountains) and swept ny the trade winds. Hope you get a shower or two to cool things down.
