Cattleya Robert Furguson Florida Sunset

My Robert Furguson Florida Sunset Cattleya came today, the flimsey 6 inch pot was cracked and it was potted in grayish lava rocks! the roots are good looking though....but i was surprised because this is a normal sized cattleya orchid...not a mini......WOW its so BIGGG! I wasn't expecting a huge plant, but I am excited because there is a new growth and you can see the flower inside the sheath! I ordered this one particularly because it said it was a summer-winter bloomer..........How long do you think til the flower pops out?? I would post a picture, ive just been having too many issues with that lately

well up against the light in the room i have it in, you see the shadowof the flower in the sheath......

How heavy is the rock? I'm thinking that it's the puffed up (expanded mineral) stuff used for s/h (semi hydroponic) but I won't know until I see it.

The last plant I got, I was expecting something small, too (Lc. Sea of Cortez 'Southern Cloud') What I got was a two foot bifoliate division. Huge thing. I'm going to have all kinds of fun finding enough light for it!

Only in America...complaining about too much!

said on the website, turns to a rare salmon color? i see the flower in the sheath...how long til it pops out do you think? looked pretty on the internet, cant wait to see my bloom!

yes the flower becomes an opaque soft pink, as to how long the sheath pops, no idea, some pop right away, others sit for awhile. patience is required when it comes to sheaths, good luck
