Spike or Keiki?

This P schilleriana is showing something that I don't understand. When the new growth appeared, I was excited because I thought at last the thing is growing a keiki. But the growth kept getting longer with no sign of a leaf. It is now over an inch long and now I am beginning to think that it is a spike which doesn't make sense because its only the beginning of autumn and its still very hot.

What do you fellows think? Pics attached.

I would say spike.
Mine has a similar growth & i assume that is a spike as well.

They said that with this species, it needs a cool condition to initiate spike. That is whats been going on in the past, spike comes out in December when the night temp is below 20C.

This time the spike came out after almost 2 weeks of rain. Well, it was a little bit cooler but night temp was still well above 20C and daytime about 30C. Not cool enough. Does this means that the "cool condition" theory/fact (whatever) is now out the window?

I hope this spike will bloom, but I wouldn't be surprise if a keiki will appear at the end of it instead of flowers buds.

Not a phal expert, but I gotta say spike. You'd think a keiki would have shown signs of leaves by this stage.
