I think my Cattleya orchid is DYING.....please help

Recently ii have noticed my cattleya orchidss have been looking real shriveled up? The texture of the leaves feels horrible like kinda lumpy &bumpy to the touch. The roots are paper thin and dying out not plump and juicy like ii think they should be. I am new to orchids so I'm unsure wat the problem is ? Me personally I think my plants are lacking or not retaining any water I have one planted in a hanging basket with holes And the other one is in a ceramic clay pot with holes the medium is bark with a mix of charcoal and perlite. O and one other thing I keep them inside next to a window and mayb three months ago I divided it into 2

Sounds like the roots are just about dead and cannot take in water. You need to increase the humidity around the plant to help it grow some new roots. Use some rooting hormone on the root area also. Couldn't hurt.

Ditto Bruce....Either the roots have rotted or they've dessicated. It's difficult to tell which without experience. If the media is fresh/open/airy and you don't water as needed, the roots can die off. If the media is decomposing/too tight or moisture retentive and you water frequently, they die off as well. It's a balancing act for sure.
