I have this beautiful Harlequin Phal. with two spikes cut down to the base. Wonder is it a spike or a root- or one of each? Any thoughts?
Thanks Michele

Hi Michele,
Looks like a phal root to me.
Cheers,

I agree with Bruce, it's a root. A spike on a Phal. has been described as looking like it is wearing a mitten on its end, not rounded and smooth as a root.
Michele, good job! More roots provide better, happier phals - and better chance of a good spike later.
