This cambria was a surprize

This is one of my rescued ochids
I bought it without a bloom, but judging by the wilted flowers on the pot media I thought it is going to be a pink Bureageara
to my surprize it is a Odontocidium Hansueli Isler
I didn'i had this one so it is welcome to my collection

Update on my odontoglossum

Its not Hansueli Isler. If the correct name comes to my mind I'll post it here.
Two reasons ; the lip is quite wrong - HI has a much rounder shape to the whole flower ; and the colour.
For the genuine Hansueli Isler - which has far more reddish spots and bars, see my very recent posting under that name.

I am also a bit unhappy about using the name Cambria for a type of orchid ; I know the old Dutch nurserymen, when they first turned to orchids, and were completely ignorant about them, used that name , they did so because the first orchid they grew was Vuylestekeara Cambria var Plush FCC/RHS - so they called all orchids Cambrias.
I have actually seen Burrageara Nelly Mosers on sale at the shop at the main RHS garden, labelled as Cambria ! I made them take them off sale until they had been correctly named.
Without being too pedantic, we can at least call them Oncidium types.

you are right
I found out that the orchid above is a Colmanara Wildcat Tiger, I just hadn;t had time yet to correct my error
as for labelling orchids as cambria, the vendors here do it with almost every orchid that is other than a phal, paph or dendrobium
I bought Burrageara, Zygos, Brassidiums, oncidiums etc labelled as such
So my intention wasn't to make anyone unhappy just picked up a bad habbit I guess

The Colmanara is fragrant in the mornings and I am growing it under lights in my bedroom so I can enjoy it all day

I'll have to agree with Geoff re the Name 'Cambria'.I wince every time I see the use of 'Cambria' for all Oncidium types.
