I got a happy surprise last week, my mom has come for a visit. Of course we had to go visit a nursery...and this is one that I bought myself. I was too happy to find a Longissima x Rex and the flowers are amazing. The largest is 12 inches across.

Very nice.
Despite the huge size of brassia, I did try a hybrid once. Never could get it to bloom no matter what I tried. After a number of years I traded it away. Bummer that.
Maybe they like it a little warmer. I don't seem to have any trouble growing these along-side my cattleya. I split my 'Ontario' and both bloom every time a p-bulb gets mature. With most orchids, if they aren't blooming change their location and give them more sun. I will be babying this one as I haven't seen one with flowers this large in a long time.
The arrangement is awesome congrats Connie for the new stuff.
beautiful spiders
That is a majestic beauty!!
Congrats on your choice of gift to yourself.
Now that is a stunning display! Nice growing and blooming, Connie.
cheers,
