This orchid is the also recognized as ‘Phal hybrid’. It is also known as Star of Leyte. These orchids are mainly grown in cool to intermediate temperatures. You should plant it in a ‘fir bark’ medium and keep the orchids in partial shade. You should water the plant once a week and keep it moist, but not wet.

The crown rot is 100% preventable. You need to water your Phal early in the day; so your orchid can get time to dry off before the night-time. Provide your Phal with proper air circulation. You need to inspect the crown of your orchid regularly. You need to take tissue and soak up water pooled in the crown.

You should pot it in a medium like fir-bark. You need to provide the pot with a lot of drainage and keep it fairly moist, but not wet. You need to water when the potting media is just approaching towards dryness. The important thing is that don’t let the water accumulate into the center of the pot.
