    Talking Introduction

Hello every one! I wanted to introduce myself to everyone as the newest kid on the block. My name is Lisa and I am in NC. I am a labor and delivery nurse by trade, but my real love is orchids! I have 80-some, scattered through out my house and trees. Thank goddness I have the most understanding husband in the world. I've been growing less than a year, so I'm still in need of your wisdom and guidance from time to time, especially when I branch out to different types of orchids. Currently, I have several types of oncidiums, dendrobiums, phals, catts, encyclia, one sarco, one cym, one drac, and one peristeria elata. I hope to get a greenhouse next year. I look forward to getting to know you all, and sharing a love of orchids!

    Hi Lisa!

Welcome! I'm a relatively new member of this board too, but I've found everyone to be extremely helpful and friendly. I think you will like it here. I look forward to chatting about orchids (what else?) with you!

Oh, girl, I'm such an addict. I'd have more if my husband didn't smack my hand every now and again. Actually, I've been looking a bulbos, thinking I might try one. If I can find one not too stinky!

Check out Sue's bulbo in the display area. It's a really beautiful plant. It may be a few pages back, but worth the search! Don't know what it smells like tho! lol.

    Hello Neighbor and Welcome,
I live in East TN. Where in NC do you live?

I have the same problem as you, only mine has been going on 4 years and now orchids are 200+, and I only got a "treehouse greenhouse" this year.

We enclosed part of our deck, which is 12' off the ground for me to have a growing area. My hubby got tired of looking through orchids to see outside!

Poke around the different sites here , ask questions and show us your "bloomers"!

Make yourself at home....you are among great growers and a friendly bunch!

Hi Gilda, nice to meet you! I live in Mooresville, about 30 minutes north of Charlotte. So pretty close to you!

I am fortunate to have lots of big, sunny 2 story windows in my house, so the orchids have lots of light. I have wire shelveing over my garden tub (hey, who needs a bath) and a nice eastern windowsill that my phals and seedling enjoy. I had to move catt seedlings away from the window because they're turning red. And I love looking at them all day, every day, but my husbands and sons don't share my enthusiasm (I just don't get why not) and so I lust for a greenhouse. My husband's pretty handy so I trust him to build it. Just gotta get the $$ (which I'd have more of if I'd quit buying orchids!)
