At what time (month?) of the year do you have most orchids in bloom?

In my part of the world (Sweden), this time of the year (August) is an all-time low when it comes to my orchids blooming. Only a Cattleya, some Phalaenopsis and the odd other. Usually the first quarter of the year is my top period, for some reason (my orchids apparently haven't read any Orchid literature that states when they SHOULD bloom).

Most of my cattleyas bloom in the fall or winter. My phals bloom from January through the spring. In South Florida we tend to like orchids that bloom between fall and spring because that's when we have our best weather. I do have some vandas and they're summer bloomers. If you look around, you can find some cattleyas that bloom in the summer. Some of the phalaenopsis with short spikes and small flowers tend to be summer bloomers also.

Like Jeff, most of my cattleyas bloom in the cooler months. My slippers orchids are mostly in the late spring and summer. Vanda type orchids bloom all year long for me.

So far my older, established plants are Phals and start their spikes in Jan/Feb and bloom into the spring. I'm waiting to see when my Catts. bloom and my oncidium alliance (NOID) older plants start up about the time the Phals are finishing. I have a lot of new plants, Oncidium/Odontoglossum types, that I don't know when they'll bloom and new Catts. I doubt my one little Masdevalia is going to bloom, but I feel proud to have kept it alive for a year! My one Oncidium (looks rather like a Twinkle in the flowers, but seem rather large in the plant) is working on its second spike of the spring still now, having already bloomed right after the Phals. I don't know yet if/when my one Cymbidium will bloom either! Or my one Paph. Lots of experiments for me!

I have no hope for my Cymbidium either: supposedly they need really low nighttemperatures and lots of daylight to get them to rebloom. Can't see those conditions happen in this house!

Oh, I do have a measure of hope, it gets down to 50-60 degrees here at night, even when its 100 during the day. It's been happy outside and I will keep it out until its almost freezing, perhaps moving it close to the house so it doesn't freeze. I just don't know exactly what I'm doing yet and if it will work!

Oh, if it does something, there will be pictures! That reminds me to take some pictures of it soon, it's grown a lot since I got it last spring.

Here we don't have seasons - it's wet or wetter; and hot or hotter. But having said that I'm a bit luckier to live in the far north of our country and experience cooler (not cool) and dry winter months from Dec to Feb and so Mar, April, May our 'spring' is the time when we see the most blooms. However most of our orchids bloom the year round.
