my great big vanda is in trouble - advice

Hi all
I have this vanda (see pics) and it appears to be in serious trouble, I live in Queensland Australia and we are in Autumn at the moment not cold by any means.
Ive had the plant about 4 years and all has been good. I have not changed the position or routine of the plant. About 2 months ago the active roots started to die and since then the plant appears to be dying from the bottom up.
The top of the plant still appears to be lovely and bright though.
I don't want to lose it but I am fearing the worst.
Any last minute recommendations would be helpful
Is it possible that the plant is just reorganising its self and transforming to a size and condition that it can cope with.

Only used a orchid feeding solution and a rose fungus/ mould spray but been using the same stuff for a few years

I wish I could be of help but sooner or later this happens to many of our vandas, especially the strap leaved types. You don't see this often in Thailand where most of their vandas retain their leaves even to the 'baby' leaves. I'll pass on their tips to you : (1) keep the ground/floor beneath the orchids wet/moist (2) water the roots 2-3 times a day (3) regular feeding - minimum weakly weekly (the Thais fertilise 2-3 times a week) (4) good air circulation. So high humidity is the key but this encourages fungal disease so they use a lot of fungicide. If Physan is available regular use of this should be included in your cultural regime. Vandas are heavy feeders, thus regular fertilising is essential. BTW the tips offered are for vandas grown outdoors 24/7 beneath shade cloth (50-70% shade) under tropical conditions.

I agree with cattan I saw your vandas some of them is dehydrated to me the roots is unable to absorbed the water for what ever reason, what you need to do just trim the old and leave it the green color, well may be this is high time for you to change your fertilizer.

Agree with the experts. You could possibly soak the vanda in a big bucket of rain water and seaweed extract to rejuvenate the roots and grow them back.

I have a couple like that which came from friends,and I am having trouble
getting them to put out new roots further up the stem so I can cut off
the bottom and start them away again.I got them about four years ago.
So far getting longer and no new roots.Good Luck
