This plant was doing well. The buds came out looking healthy. Now the buds are shriveling and turning brown. WhenI saw the change in the buds, I lowered the amount of light. It doesn't seem yo help. Can anyone help?![]()

Sorry to hear about the bud blast. possible reasons
1) any sudden change in temperature?. did you move this from any other location to a higher or lower temprature?
2) any chemicals/gases (ethylene?) source near by?.
3) AC duct or heater vent near by?
hope rest of the buds bloom.
You can't rule out a possible infestation. Thrips can also cause premature blasting and this is the season for them in our region. Open the blasted buds to look for teeny black insects and/or yellow larvae.
? hows the search going?

I do not see signs of infestation. Some of the flowers have opened. I discoloration maybe due to the color of the flower. I say maybe because the flowers appear to be withered and unhealthy. The a/c had been turned on a few days before the orchid buds began to open. Not sure what caused the withering situation. The plant would have been a great show because there are so many buds. Anyone have ideas on the withering? I did not water everyday because i thought dendrobiums do not need water daily until AFTER they bloom. Please give me your thoughts.
What was the temp in your home before the a/c?

It appears the bud change is normal as the plant has now flowered. Im not sure the flowers are healthy, but here it is.![]()
flowers look healthy. Guess the browning you were seeing was the orange starting to show
ow,... so now i know it turns yellow before it blooms,... thanks for this post. (learning everyday) . that flower looks kinda cute,.. ---->wishlist
Looks good! I'd take a pic of mine, but it's about as dead as dead can be! Does yours have any fragrance? I've read that they should, but I never detected any on mine.
