Is there a way to "encourage" a Phal to send up two stalks instead of just one? or is it just luck of the draw?

Strong phals with big leaves and lot of roots tend to throw out 2 spikes. If not, then the one spike will branch and you get higher flower count.
I have seen phals with 20 feet long or longer spikes (and two of those!). Amazing, eh!
Cheers. Hoa.
I think genetics are also a factor. I have a massive phal that flowers every 10 months, and I've never gotten more than one spike or any branches.
