Hey guys, I have a few Phalaenopsis orchid buds about to bloom any day now and would like to learn a little something. I was reading this old book called "Micro-propagation Of Orchids" in it i read something about a substance, Gelatin like other than Agar-agar that was used as a medium to grow orchid seeds. I don't want to have to get Agar-agar from the Internet. I have tons of unflavored pure Gelatin here in my home and was wondering if maybe i mixed in the right types and amounts of nutrients i would be able to sow the orchid seeds on it. What do you guys think, Is it worth the shot? I have some recipes for the mix and i'm thinking of just substituting Agar with Gelatin.
