The blue background! It shows off the color best in the buds and bloom.

I like the blue as well.
Mark down two more votes for blue. (Me and my husband who's peeking over my shoulder!)![]()
BLUE! Definately.
Definitely the blue!
White bleaches out too much and the tealy-green... eh.. it just doesn't do anything for it.

I much prefer the white background. If you look carefully you will see that there is a lot more depth of field and definition to the orchid, especially in the foreground.
Second reason. coloured backgrounds tend to produce a colour cast on the subject. Compare the foliage in the three pictures and you will see what I mean.
I am still wearing "L" plates when it comes to orchids, but I was a professional photographer for most of my life until I retired, so that is where I am coming from. If you look at pro photos of orchids you will notice that most (if not all) of them tend to use either a black or a white background.
I agree with the blue choice in this case, but for the most part, I find a piece of black velvet, hung well behind the plant, makes for the most impressive shot. The velvet just "swallows" shadows, too.
I have a black muslin backdrop which IMO works fine.
in this instance I will go for the blue as it has a lower tonal range and easier on the eye. if the flowers were different color the the white would better.
