These dendrobium species are georgeous things ; not easy to grow in UK , or at least, easy - but we never see them the way I have seen them hanging outside villagers bungalows in Thailand , with spikes everywhere. In fact, these hard, often square-section caned dendrobiums, seem to spend much of the year doing nothing , then suddenly push out a bud, or ( more rarely) a new growth. I wish I knew what to do to get them to grow better , probably it would mean raising the temperature a good few degrees all the time !
