Question about foggers for keeping up humidity for orchids

Hi there,

Keeping the humidity up for my window sill grown orchids is a challenge. I am using one electrostatic humidifier and about to add a second to the room where I grow a lot of my orchids. I've been placing the higher humidity loving plants closer to the outlet where the fog comes out. Does that seem reasonable, or could they be getting a chill?

Daytime temps are 75-85, nighttime around 65. I run 1 or 2 fans during the day, and often at night too.

There are few if any commonly grown orchids that would ever be damaged if the room air temperature stays above 60F, even if they did get significant evaporative cooling near an indoor humidifier.

You'll do much better with the humidity if there's a way to enclose the plants somehow.

As it is, you are humidifying the room they're in, and if that is open to other rooms, those as well, and ultimately, the entire atmosphere.

You either have to limit the "escape", or overwhelm the rate it does by adding more humidity.

A bit of a cautionary note. Humidity over 70% will affect furniture, walls, carpets etc. There is a good possibility of black mold in any corners and behind furniture. Be sure to get a hygrometer.
