    Default Date Palm Orchids

Here is a collage of orchids that are blooming on my Palm. They are hearty souls and bloom for me even though they seldom get watered or fed.

Do you wrap the tree when it gets cold? I would love to try this but I thought our temps here get too cold. We don't generally freeze, i'm in Pinellas County, but we lost tropical plants two winters in a row. I'm kind of leery of attaching them to trees. Yours look like they love their palm tree! Two huge spikes of flowers. Makes a person want to smash the pots and put them all in the trees. lol

Connie I find that the orchids on the trees suffer from the cold than the potted ones. I so not wrap the palm but I do leave the lights on all night if it is really cold but I don't know how much warmth that gives them. I have a Den and a Phal on the carrotwood tree that never get any extra warmth and they do fine. I made bags for the Schombs but I think they do fine without them. So get out the cotton twine and tie some up !!

Nice! I'm surprised the phal does so well in such bright light.

Very pretty display. The orchids seem to love the date palm. Well done. BTW love that Ctna(?). Quite surprised that the phal is doing so well in such an exposed position.

It seems with warmth, bright light, and humidity these orchids can take a lot and still act as if their on vacation. Glad you posted these photos. Reminds me of the orchids I knew in Florida way back in nineteen hundred and..............AL

Simply gorgeous! Wow! I just started my garden at new house in Port St Lucie and I’ve been busy mounting my beauties. Wish I could upload pics but I’m new on these forums and just learning the ropes!

    Congrats on your beauties!
