Brassia question

So, I had this Brassia 'Spider's Gold' for about a year now...here's my question...to induce blooming, does it really have to get to 90° F!!!! Its about the only thing I can think of that set this thing off...two spikes, one is just about ready to open the first blooms. My conditions:

Planted in sphag

water once a week

situated in a hanging basket where it gets indirect afternoon sun for about three hours

not a whole lot in the way of fertilizer, maybe once a month with 1/4 strength fish & seaweed emulsion

Hi Aaron,

Your hybrid is a mix of three species, all similar in their likes: arcuigera 50%, gireoudiana 37.5%, and verrucosa 12.5%.

They all like brighter light and int-warm temps. If yours isn't blooming, I'd guess it wants more light. Bring it on! These guys will take full on NH light. If it's direct at mid-day screen for burn, but not much.

If it's not getting enough light it won't bloom. My verrucosa gets Catt level light and grows like a weed.

I am guessing that within the next few days, the first buds will open followed by an eruption of blooms, I seem to remember that was its habit when I got the thing (already in spike), but I am hoping that since both spikes are roughtly the same size and age, that I'll have both blooming simultaneously).
