Just wanted to show you all my Restripia. Unfortunately I can't get my camera to take a perfect picture because the flower is soooo small! But the plant has gotten to be pretty large.

The plant looks big for the tiny flower! Looks like it is very happy under your care.

Thanks, Aaron!
I think they look like backswimmers, or water boatmen! Such cool flowers!
The other Aaron - ATester - has some nice ones, too!

My 'Trep count has gone up to around 10 different species, I believe the count right now is about 50, so I have forty more to go
Unfortunatly no blooms, but I think I have some pics on another roll of film waiting to be developed.
I am almost ready to send my Restrepia's off to one of the Aarons..... mine look nothing like that.... yeah, I *think* they are still alive.... somehow.... maybe... ???
This is my only Restripia. I only wanted one because I was told that I couldn't grow them in my area. So I showed them by taking a small keiki, and turning into what you see!
WOW!!! Wanna tell me what you did with the keiki? I'm in awe of your growing abilities.
I own 5 - all species, but 3 are NOIDs right now apparently. They all have sparse leaves that are so spotted and brittle.... They have packing peanuts in the bottom of 2" cheap plastic pots, a small layer of very lightly packed spagh. that I mist once or twice daily to keep moist... I keep all 5 in a baby wipe container on lava rocks with water in the bottom. Air and not direct light....
What else do I need to know??
You are my orchid growing hero.... *sigh*
Tikva,
You might wanna get rid of the packing peanuts, that would inhibit the amount of water that is absorbed by the sphag (these guys like to keep their feet wet). Also, what kind of air movement are you getting and also how warm is it?
Aaron, where do you live? What are your conditions that you are giving them? By the way, nice growing!
I live in South West Florida, and I have been growing it hanging off of one of my catasetum baskets. It's a basket that I keep in deep shade to help produce male flowers on the catasetum. It seems to like where it is because there are blooms all over the place. It actually always seems to be in bloom.(the restripia) Humidity is probably 80% and I water every other day if it doesn't rain. I keep it on the same feeding regimen as the rest of my plants. Nothing special
NH orchid crazed guy -
I will put more spagh - good point. No more peanuts and more loose spagh.
I have them in my dining room by the sliding glass door so they get 60-70F temps for the most part. I'm closing the door at night and open it when the sun comes out in the day. I have the ceiling fan on medium so there's good air movement.
Do they want warmer or cooler? Not that I can control the temps more but.... it's nice to know :c)
