Paph time

Just a quick pic to show you how pretty my blooming paphs look in the morning sunlight. They have been blooming 6 wks now and 2 more buds on the albas are getting close. I hope they will all hold on and have flowers at the same time!

A couple of things about this type of paph: 1) I think the spikes are too tall for the size of the plant; they need to be about 4" shorter to be in proportion. 2) They jiggle at the slightest vibration and it's hard to photograph them!

I'm really enjoying them anyway and am acquiring many more slippers than I ever thought I would!

nice plants! This is a interesting photo.
Yes paph maudiae type spikes are very long usually, but in other paph hybrids they are disapointingly short (like crosses with Paph. bellatulum, etc).
I guess long spikes make paph maudiae a ideal flower for florists, and they give a stronger display.

very nice, you have all the major color forms of the "Maudiae-type". a well-positioned stake may be helpful if the spike sways too much! breeders and florists both like strong stems, and in nature the plants send up long stems to get them off the forest floor.

me too! i went from not especially wanting any, to three all in maybe 2 weeks, with 2 more species i am going to buy as soon as it it warm again (or i can find them in a store locally)

Beautiful....What is the name of the one on the right with the deep shades of red? My first paph is just opening and I will be thrilled if it lasts as long as yours.

Great photo and super job growing and blooming them. It is getting to be that time of year, I have 4 in bloom now with about 10 more in bud. I hope to have a paph-decorated Christmas this year. (well, okay, maybe Thanksgiving)
