Can this Oncidium be saved???

So I need some honest opinions on this guys!!

I have an oncidium, it has lost everything but its roots, no Pseudo bulbs or anything!

I have bagged and sphagged it with rooting hormone et al!

Is it a lost cause or should I wait and see??

If wait and see is the route how long should I wait??

Oooh and I know the sphag is too damp!

Sorry to hear that it isn't in good condition. I know the plant has centimental value.

Unfortunately the plant isn't gonna grow any longer. There doesn't appear to be any nodes for it to send a new shoot, and any plant would need an node to send a new growth.

On a up note, your spag seemed to be doing well though. Yes, the oncidium is way gone. Time to replace it with something that makes you happy!

Hey, don't knock growing sphag ! Part of the reason I started my terrarium was to see if I could grow the stuff. From what I understand, it can actually grow pretty quickly, and it has all sorts of nifty things you can do with it...like pot up your orchids and CPs. Buying the stuff is also not real cheap if its alive (I found 2 cups for $7 USD...if you're potting up something large that could become real expensive...so, you've a healthy clump there, just give it bright light, no fertilizer and rain, RO, or ditilled water and it should be happy (oh, and keep it cool).

It's said but hey! The sphag I bought was in pretty good condition when I bought it, and I've got loads left! The stuff I found on the net was very dry and vertually vac packed from chilli or somewhere! Went to my local garden center and they had really fresh looking green sphag in the same size bag as you would by frozen chips (fries) in for like £2.50 so I bought two bags one of which I haven't even touched yet which cost me a fiver ($3) ish but hey we Brits are hanging basket mad and thats what most people use to grow them in! Plus the precious trailing lobilia won't die in the event of a drought order! use the scraps of undrunk tea lying about and a bit of sphag = happy hanging baskets!!
