P. sanderianums?

Im purchasing the P. sanderianums "Whirlygig", but i can only get it as a seedling. Does anybody have any ideas on how long it takes to grow to blooming size?

P. spicerianum
P. urbanianum
P. insigne
P. lowii 'Princehouse' AM/AOS x sib

It will many years, maybe a decade. I'd keep it in the collection but let your other paphs keep you satisfied with blooms

I've had mine for three years and it seems like it is the same size... sanderianum is a very slow growing plant, esp if the growing environment is not 'perfect'. I've been told that I should keep mine in an even temperature all year around, ie about 21-30 celsius. Any lower and it stops growing, any higher and it stops growing

all your other Paphs are fairly easy and quick growers though... I find the urbanianum so underrated, and it is such a lovely Paph and so easy to grow.

That sounds like a great order. We have been growing a cross made with sanderianums from flask and they are still tiny after almost 5 years. I am excited to see photos of your new paph collection!

I went to the post office today and guess what? they said my orchids wont be here for another three days!! They said something about a mail-order backup or something. (sigh) i am normally so ok about these types of things, but this is really disappointing.

i know how u feel, I have a Cymbid that's been in the postal system since Tuesday last week... thankfully the weather has been mild.

Actually it's not that bad. lol Most nursery start selling Paph. sanderianum seedling when they are around 3-4" LS and it will take a decade or more for that size. Trick is try to buy establish seedling that is around 12-14"+ LS. It may cost you around $80-90 but the money is worth it. sanderianum generally grow faster and not as big as rothschildianum and much easier to bloom. It's the warmest growing member of Paph so if you can keep it warm all year round you can grow it faster. Mine is a little over 12" right now i'm hoping it reach B.S is the next 2-3 years. lol
