Hi panda (going to go for Lynda's shortening of your user name from the other post)
there are a lot of phal hybrids out there. And they quite often end up looking alike. I can think of two off the top of my head that are white with red lips: Happy Girl and Su's Red Lip.
I'm afraid that, when there's no tag, to find out the hybrid you would probably need to ask the seller and then maybe their supplier. Otherwise you will never know. I personally can't resist a pretty NOID (although I did today - and the plant even had a basal keiki... I wonder if the shop is still open??).
Enjoy the plant!
I have agree with kerry there are numerous hybrids that can look like that.
I think it has a beautiful lip!
Ditto -- it is pretty, but there's not much chance of specifically identifying it unless you can track down the grower. Truthfully, that probably isn't worth the effort--I'd just enjoy it.
Of course, for your self, you can name it whatever you want -- just can't use that name for judging or breeding of course.I'd go with "raspberry lipstick"
Holy cow panda, I bought that SAME phal over the weekend from a home store!! I saw it and I couldn't resist that gorgeous raspberry-colored lip against the beautiful white...I agree with Sadie; call it 'Raspberry Lipstick'!!
:-)
Thank you! I kind of figured that it was something pretty common especially since I saw it in Becky's avatar.
I'm very excited about my new orchid. Aside from some issues it might be having.
Enjoy your new Phal; it is spectacular! May it inspire you to go and collect more orchids! The orchid family is the largest in existence, so have fun and spend time on the forum learning about them. Certainly, all of us here have been bitten by the "orchid grower" bug...haha![]()
I can't wait to get more orchids. I'm going to have a forest in my room. I have my Phal (Her name is Cho) and two Lucky Bamboo plants.
Cho (Phal)
Draco (First Lucky Bamboo)
Shino (Second Lucky Bamboo)
That's a good start - if you get more orchids, don't forget to post pictures here... we love to share other people's purchases.
