for the life of me I can't seem to take a picture of a vini. flash bounces right off the petals. maybe one of these days I'll get an SLR and a tripod and do it the right way.

Save your money, Jason! They're impossible to photograph. With good light they photograph so much lighter than they look, anyway. I always love the blackest ones that seem to absorb all the light in the room!

Hey, the shine isn't always a bad thing - it gives you the idea of the texture of the plant that it can reflect so much light. I know my one vini paph was gorgeously voluptuous and it did reflect the light even without a flash being aimed at it.
