Getting more new phal roots?

my phals. they don't seems to be growing any new roots. (unlike catt, which grows a bunch of new roots for every p-bulb) Although, they have a fair about of roots but they all look pretty old and wrinkled ish, not like the new fresh green pumped ones. How do i promote more newer roots?

I'm not saying there is no way to specifically encourage root growth, but I don't know of it. Of course, you do the obvious in taking care of your plant to provide for its needs. But my phals decide for themselves when they will grow new roots, or leaves, or spikes. Often, a plant in its first year at my house will sit and just think about it. Finally I will see a new root, or the beginnings of a new leaf.

I think if I lived in a more tropical area, they would grow more quickly. But I don't. And they eventually do just fine.

You could try a rooting concentrate. If you pm me I'll give you the vendors name and the product name. Also with this particular vendor if you e-mail him, he's really good about responding(we can't promote individual vendors or products on this site, thus the reason for the pm.)

I personally saw new root growth a few weeks after repotting from bark to lecca and watering freely (using ordinary pots). The plants seem to stall at first, but you should continue watering whenever you see the media dry (which is a lot more often than bark).
After a while roots appear near the last leaf and then they grow pretty quick, as long as you tend to their needs of water and fertilizer.

I also have a fertilizer that is supposed to have rooting hormones in it and I got quite a jump on roots with it, especially with phals.
