On the third Friday of each month, the San Diego Zoo opens up its orchid greenhouses to the public. Here are some pictures from my recent trip there. This time, they had mostly paphs and phrags in bloom...enjoy!

very nice! does that mean we have to start guessing as to the identities?![]()
LOL! I'm staying out of the identity crisis. Someone at the SD Zoo sure knows what they're doing though, those plants look vibrant. Thanks for posting the pics, Nancy.

Oh my !!!!!!
Those are beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.
ah, captions!Top left looks like the famous schlimii 'Birchwood' aka schlimii 'Wilcox' aka Sedenii 'Wilcox', which are all the same plant (probably a Cardinale, definitely not schlimii). Top right I'd guess longifolium, bottom right is definitely a rothschildianum, and bottom left looks like insigne sanderianum (the alba form) x some Maudiae type. For this last one, I remember seeing a similar one at a Montreal botanical garden a long time ago. Not something that's commonly found in paph collections these days.
