    Default Paph. malipoense

Here's my latest aquisition. I can't take credit for the bloom this time. It has a 22" spike! This is one of my favorite parvi species!

LOL - after my recent decapitation, all spikes make me nervous!

The malipoense are known for very long spikes. I wonder why? Ground vegetation they have to climb above?

up to 30-36" even on this species. don't know why but the vegetation theory is plausible. or perhaps its pollinator flies a certain level above the ground. i'm sure someone probably knows.

Oooh...so pretty. I'm very envious...my malipoense was in bud for over 4 months with a 20" spike and then the bud blasted. I have no idea where I went wrong. Well, I'll just admire your little beauty...thanks for posting!

What is the trick to getting malipoense to bloom? I have heard they are very finicky...
