How do you know the time is right to take a green pod and whats the best way to store it if your not ready to flask the seed.

different genera mature at different times...what are you dealing with and I will see if I can find the info for you. I still have some pods on that 8 or 9 months since fertilizing.

The lab I use likes the pods about nine months.I have not tried to store them.

i read somewhere the pod will have a little give to it if you gently squeeze it when its ready. i don't remember where i read this but i apparently have enough faith in my unknown source that i'll be going by this...

"different genera mature at different times." Temperate country usually take a longer time as compare to tropical or equator. For example phalaenopsis after 4 months I can harvest and sow on the agar plate, again for bulbophyllum 4 months is more than enough.However for dendrobium will take longer more than 5 months. So I dont have problem with green pot here. Successful rate is between 90 to 100% provided the medium is suitable for each genera.
